thanks ... but this is what i have
fork tube diam = 25.36
top and bottom cup OD = 32.20 [typo - should be 30.20
shoulder for crown race = 26.66

which matches Sheldons chart
steerer = 25.4 mm
crown race = 26.4 mm
cup OD = 30.2 mm
This is the standard 1" size.

so when o ordered a 1'' threaded bike Headset - that's what i expected to get ...but didn't

so.................... has anybody bought a CORRECT set
if so, where from please

Re:

There are two crown race standards for headset (1") and if the seller does not say which the headset is don't buy it!. It is pretty easy to do I manage it after all. Also with a 26.66mm crown race it will need milling to 26.5mm for a 26.4mm crown race to fit without stupid force being necessary. Get your forks milled/faced but then the headtube will need doing as well.

^^^^...thanks for the info

this Peugeot is going to be just a ''runner''

so i can not justify extra money for machining
if i canna get parts to fit - i will replace the existing headset bits - only the outside chrome surfaces were rusty
the race bearing surfaces are perfect

i wonder why my crown race ID = 26.6
it has a [copper.?] shim around the bottom of the steerer tube - pic tomorrow

Any good LBS can run a crown race facing tool on the fork it will takes miuntes, you'll be charged a tenner ob done. That's what I mean!
