A bit of progress on sourcing the parts. The main thing is that I got most of a SRAM Red 22 groupset. The new aim is the region of 7.7kgs which is pretty realistic with the parts here.

A bit of progress on the Hewitt rebuild today - got around to assembling some more of it. Just the cable outers, bar tape and chain left to fit. I thought I could get the cables done but hadn't factored in that I would need a step-down ferrule for the rear derailleur chainstay stop. One (and a spare) should be coming next week so I can get it up and running...

I also got it on the scales - 7.175kg as pictured below. Lighter QRs are coming next week and I might be able to fit some lighter pedals than the ones on it. So once the cable outers are on, bar taped and chain installed the final weight should be around 7.6kg.

Pretty much done! And for once I didn't mess up the bar tape, always the last job and the one I hate doing the most. Double wrapped on the drops on corners, which is how I like it. Just a couple of lighter new tubes to put it now, probably swap the pedals out too. In the longer term I'm looking for a Columbus carbon fork to replace the EC90. Will post the final weights soon too - it's light.

Complete at 7.215kg without the pedals, then the battery on the scales died! I know the pedals are 198g anyway, so 7.415kg complete weight. Not bad considering it has a porky 11-36 cassette on it.

I've just given it a first spin around the block and happily the size is perfect. It feels really nice, and very familiar as I have the same bar, tape and saddle on another bike. I'd quite like to change the forks to lose another 40-50g or so, but if I had the fork clearance I'd fit 28mm tyres and lose that anyway.
