453 tubing

I had a British eagle stratos build from it, it's basically gas pipe but decent gas pipe

You don't see it much, entry level stuff soon became 500/501 with 531 still the first serious tubing in the r range

Great, my bike is made of gas pipe! Thank you - this one is an Eagle too. Is there anything I need to watch out for, e.g. is it particularly brittle or anything like that?

Nothing only rust.

Just never going to be a uber desirable tube set I'm afraid

But nowt wrong with, probably great to ride.

If Jennifer Lopez is 753, then 453 is Carol Kirkwood, and we all know which one would be easier to live with.....

Thanks Nick, I don't need anything special, so I'm not bothered about desirability, just comfort and riding enjoyment :) . Its a mixte frame, so I had a suspicion it wouldn't be terribly special.

Its very pretty though

That's not exactly fair, the difference between a full 501 frame and a full 531 frame is so small you can make it up just with what saddle you pick.

The Raleigh Richmond mixte is 531 if you're ever looking for a mixte in a better steel. It's actually a very light bike.

Spokesmann, I will upload a picture once its back from the bike shop - I got a bit overenthusiastic with the crank puller

Thanks Jonny 69 and Bats, for the lightness issue, I'd could probably make more of a difference losing a few pounds off me! But I may well be looking for a better quality mixte in time if I find this works well. This is the first "ladies" bike that I've owned, so I am interested in finding out whether it suits me or not.
