30 tooth 9 speed sprocket

Anyone got an old and worn out Shimano 9 speed cassette that I could rip the above out of?
My old legs are failing fast. Either that or the hills are getting steeper.
Cheers,
Kerry.

Re:

I'm not sure and am happy to be corrected, but I think the bottom 3 on 9 speed came on a carrier, so you would be swapping the 3 biggest cogs at once.

But I have a bodge on one of my bikes having built up a cluster of single 7 speed cogs which I have mated to a 10 speed chain and it works fine. Moral of my story is, if you want to just swap out the biggest single cog, it doesn't have to be 9 speed.

Re:

So if I used a 10 speed 30 tooth sprocket with a 9 speed spacer and then fitted the 27 tooth cluster I would have a workable proposition?

Re:

No, you can't get a 30t 10 speed sprocket. You will get something like 30, 27, 25 together pre-mounted on a carrier which then slides onto a free hub.

Your best and easiest solution is a new cassette with a 30 biggest sprocket - Tiagra quality won't be too expensive.Look on spa cycles website for ideas and comparisons.

Make sure your existing gear mech can handle a 30. A short arm ultegra 6600/6700 will work - ive done it.
