2015 Kona Line up - New humuhumunukunukuapua!

It's a fun one to type.

2015 looks a bit ordinary in my humble opinion (from those pics anyway). Best looking 'humuhumu' I've seen, I think was Raidan73's old one. Absolute stunner.

That Kapu looks pretty nice.

Certainly does, the spindly straight-blade fork (bit like the one on my 1998 Raleigh 853!!) gives the bike a nice retro look in this day and age. Pedantry points deducted from the original article's authors, though, for describing 853 tubing as "chromoly".

I Googled "Kona Kapu road bike" and down the years it seems they've rarely served up a dud with this model - nice framesets*.

*The 2008 model in particular, with a pleasing Molteni/Holdsworth-ish shade of orange paint and fastback seat stays.

They don't exactly do their research on bikerumor; they described AVRO as a Canadian aircraft manufacturer.

Excellent web site for up to the minute info and new stuff though.

I'll bite... Why isn't it chromoly? Reynolds list; "The chemistry includes carbon, manganese, chrome, molybdenum, silicon, copper." Doesn't that make it a steel alloy, normally described as Chromoly because of the inclusion of chrome and molybdenum?

(honest question!). :?:

Steels like Reynolds 725 that are designated as chromoly, apart from the inevitable carbon plus some manganese, tend not to have such an exotic mix though. Copper content implies a more sophisticated "precipitation hardening" (http://www.aalco.co.uk/datasheets/Stain ... r_100.ashx) type of alloy where the added elements improve the strength following heat-treatment; the new Reynolds 931 stainless tubeset is certainly precipitation hardened.
