ok, back from my little jaunt in france i now need a new motorbike, looks like i have a job sorted and parking for the van is unlikely so i was thinking that my old Bandit is not in the best condition, and frankly i have wanted a sports bike for a while, so finding something that is easy to park seems a good idea

so i found a Honda CBR600 which looks pretty good, it's in the all important (for me) black but i don't really know much about motorbikes so any help or advice before i pop over and see it tomorrow would be awesome.

here's the link to the bike trader advert

:D

Older CBR6's had water pump problems, don't know if they carried through to your model. Try having a browse on cbrforums. Honda's are generally the most durable of the big 4 and it has reasonable mileage so you should be good.

Check for wear or blistering on the fork stanchions. That's about all I know ;)

Re:

Do you have a mate who is a bike mechanic? Even with years of spannering bikes I get a mate to come looksee any potential purchases when possible.

Wise words , also check condition of the left hand side of the bike . Could be damage/dropped . May be a reason why there are no pictures of it

Good luck mate

Re:

Take it for a test ride. If it feels/rides right it generally will be, CBR6's are pretty much bombproof in my experience.

Re:

yeah, test rode it on friday, luckily my insurance covers me, which i didn't realise, agreed the deal, picked it up the next after sorting the full insurance, my old bike is already sold aswel, been out on it quite a bit the last 2 days :D also the new lady in my life said, hmm i like the biker look :D win win!

Re:

Same as mine :D
Mine is a 750 not a 600 and is a trackday bike, it has daylight only MOT and is used on the road a bit but not as much as i would like :(
Is it a fuel injected one or an early carb model?

Nice bike!

I've road plenty of these. I like them much more than the early RR versions which had a small tank and felt more like an R6.
It would be my weapon of choice for a fairly sensible ride if I was still into fairing.

Hope it all works well for you.
