The complete group in '98 would be mostly M950, part M951; some '98 parts like the brakes with the upgraded parallel push, shifters with remote shifter capability, crapidrise derailleur etc were M951. '99 was M952.
I'd suggest in '98 it would have still been possible for bikes to be specced with full M950 but most would have had the upgraded brakes and shifters.

and of course late 1998, the 1999 groupset would be out... if it was anything like early 90's group releases.
