Well I never did! I ddin't know that was allowed. Just fancy that.

A very wise purchase though. Soon you might almost have too many bikes perhaps?

You can end any ebay auction to the highest bidder as long as it stays within ebay and there are more than 12hrs left to run. I only have 2 retro bikes now as the Orange Prestige was moved on and my chance of owning a 97 Kilauea ended early the other morning! This one is for keeps and either the Stumpjumper or the Explosif will get the singlespeed treatment for the winter, if not before. Bit of a gold theme running now though, is that good? :?

The main theme I see is you buying bikes that I fancied!

But at least in this case you paid less than it was 'worth'. I can't understand sellers ending auctions early, but on this occasion I'll have to put it down to your persuasive charm!

I paid a bit more than £250 for it but it is in such good condition. The blue grips will be going by the way, probably some nice black Ritchey ones to go with the Ritchey theme! What do you think to the seatpost Anthony, should it not be black to match the stem?

I like straight posts myself, and those Ritchey posts had a bad reputation BITD, so I personally never thought they were good enough for a nice bike like that (although you could stop them slipping by putting a bit of folded wet and dry between the two bits of alloy). I tend to respect the original design colour-wise and both stem and post would have been silver originally, but I do agree that black goes equally well with the paint scheme.

The term 'timeless classic' might have been invented for that bike.

I've never had problems with mine, and I'm no lightweight. I do use good long allen keys, and I avoid adjusting them when dirty. The diameter's also tricky to find without using shims: 30.4mm

Personally I think a silver bar and stem would look better. Nice bike though. Anyone know the difference between Logic (as used on the Nitanium Rockhoppers) and Pro-Logic Nitanium tubing? Butt profiles? Wall diameters?
