does anyone know where i can get one?

cheers Rich

Discs

hello and welcome
I would get a later frame or just use some xtr V's.
Lovely frame the 97, thats the first of the M2 XX if I remember. I would watch carefully the area where I attached any bracket either to the chainstays or seatstays as the M2 in either X or XX is very thin around these areas and was never designed for disc braking forces.
Show us some pics.
The above is just my opinion as I love my S works (96 M2 Team and 99 M4) and would think it sacrilige to put discs on an M2. (even M4)

Either way ride and enjoy :D

the adapter

I've tried the a2dz adapter on my gt, and didn't have any problems with strength.... looks a bit weird maybe but the alternative is even weirder stuff I guess...

yeah i see your point! and i am currently running xtrs but! my plan was to spec the m2 up as much as pos as im doing the thetford enduros on it then get a carbon s works hardtail frame swap everything over then turn the m2 into a ridgid single speed befor my brother (bilinjah!) gets his hands on it! problem is all these bargains keep coming coming up on ebay and i keep buying them all with out thinking it through!

and sure i'll get some pics up of it as soon as i can her to a jet wash!

There was an adapter designed for use on the last M2's around the 1999-2000 mark that fixed on the chainstay and utilised the brake boss.

I know it needed a little bit of fiddling about to get it working on the earlier M2's and if I can remember who did it i will mail them.

Pretty sure the adapter was a Specialized part and possibly worth giving them a ring. Would agree with Jamie that they were neve designed for those braking forces and even the M5's needed a strut adding when they realised from the first ones that the area was quite weak
