1997 Kilauea frame size 19

- these frames vary so much in price from one auction to the next -its impossible to tell. there was a dog of a frame that went for over £150 a couple of weeks back and ive seen good ones go for less than a ton.

what this frame likely to sell for? should the cost of a respray be taken into account?
Only if you don't like the colours would be my guess. It ought to sell for c£100 and the paint looks well above average to me, but the one photo of the drive side seat stay might put off some people. The seller is missing a trick by not explaining it better.

Based on my own experience, I would say it is probably just bare metal, but to someone who hasn't owned a 97 Kilauea it could look quite dire. The 97 Kilauea is the only bike I've ever had where stone chips just don't go brown. Mine is a warrior that will never be sold so I never bother to repair chips and some that are many years old the metal is still the same dark grey colour - my guess is that that is the case with this bike's seat stay.

Call me a cynic but I'd be a little concerned that the crank and/or BB are either stuck or going to be a sod to get off! Just seems weird to have removed everything (even the headset cups) but not the crank/BB. Anyway just a thought.............. :?

that's a good point well made... i'll have to pose the question when i get home tonight - no ebay access at work!
