1997 Humu or so?

Have had this one on the back burner for a while and decided to see what it was about. Only owned a few SS style bikes, well maybe I have had more but forgot, so I'm starting a Kona Humu build with all MTB parts. After searches on the web I found that most are geared towards BMX which I have no interest in even though I raced that in it's earliest years in NORCAL Bay Area and did quite well for a 15-18 year old. Anyway, I went back and forth of BMX and MTB to put this one together and after assigning some placeholder parts, I'm all in on MTB parts. I realize these were inexpensive in their debut but are fetching some good dough now so I want to keep this one under $400 to complete. I have most all the parts already so it's possible. Want to rock the Thomson n King pieces wherever I can, have a post and stem (70mm rare version) coming so seat post clamp is last piece. I'm kicking myself for selling a very nice King wheelset 2 weeks ago that would have been perfect.

Made a bit of progress the past few days. Went with Thomson post, 70mm stem and have a Thomson seatpost clamp coming along with a set of black BMX 26" wheels. Opted for the XTR V-brakes because they are the only darker ones I have, silver would not fit the build as I want it to match my local Pro baseball team, SF Giants. Wheels on there are placeholders and I needed to see what tires will fit, 2.3 fit but am going to run 2.1 amber wall BMX style.

Gonna add some tensioners on the rear drops at some point, here you go TreaderSteve.

Tires are now installed on the rims, not 100% happy with the rear wheel but will be a placeholder until I find a match for the front. Went with the Kenda BMX style due to the dark sidewalls, others were too bright and these have a nice tread to them.

Nice, it's a 1998 I think. I have the same one and have been collecting parts for it for ages. Can't decide if it's time to pull the plug and pass it on to a new owner
