1996 Stevens 7.6.2. Comp (1991 Koga-Miyata Terraliner Carbolite)

Hi, nice basis for a gravel conversion 👍
Just the stem looks to me already a bit long, those Stevens early cross-bikes are a bit longer as one may think, almost similar top tube lenght (horizontal) as their comparable 26" MTBs.

It might be a 1996 model, from what i can see from the decals.
Nevertheless, here is the picture from the 1995 catalog.

And sorry to say, there is a really cool 8.6.2, same style as 7.6.2 but with Tange Prestige Ultimate Ultrastrong tubes, overall just 10,6Kg.
I do have this on my bike wish list, but those do very rarley appear on the market.

Thanks joglo for your input and the catalog scan, I’ve only found a few pictures on the net. Also nothing about the frames geometry.

You are right, the stock 120 mm stem is definitely too long for drop bars and I will have to make it fit with a shorter and taller stem that won’t look so nice. If it doesn’t work out (dirt drop stem is no option for me so far) I will have to find frame #3🤷‍♂️

Extralight in numbers 💪

Laid the frame on a cardboard, made a drawing and took some measurements

Wheelbase 1070 mm
Chainstays 435 mm
Headtube 140 mm
BB Drop 50 mm
Effective Top Tube ~ 585 mm
Seat Tube Angle ~ 72.5°
Head Tube Angle ~ 71.5°
Fork Rake ~ 45 mm
Reach ~ 400 mm

Confirmation that it’s about 20 mm longer than what I’m used to. Hmm 🤔

i should have told you that the 1995 brochures includes a bit of geo specs too.
That's for the 7.6.2.
In case this isn't clear, from top to bottom: height seat tube bottom bracket to top, " to to mid, length top tube, length top tube horizontal, wheel base, chainstay, angle for head tube, angle for seat tube.
(head tube lenght, to me always the best base to distinguish between different frames sizes is unfortunately not listed)

It looks like your measurements are matching pretty well the 55cm (~21") frame size, isn't it?

Hah! Then I’m not far off 📏The frame is a 55 cm and the chainstays are 440 mm absolute. Thanks again, joglo. PXL_20220514_051628170.PORTRAIT.jpg
