1996 Saracen Protrax..........

Beezed

Dirt Disciple
Good evening all,

My first ever forum, but just thought i share a few images of my Saracen and would welcome any comments on my worthiness of being on this site? This bike has been well looked after over the years and i'm just sorry i never came across this site earlier...

Do retro mountain bike events take place?

I'm also looking for advice and any recommendations on what are considered good Raleigh equivalents from this era as I'd love to have one? and finally what is considered the holy grail of retro hard tailed mountain bikes?

Re:

Wow! Have you ever used it?! Looks like new.

The frames on these are pretty decent to be honest. That's a nice colour too. Stx stuff is decent without the bling.

Not sure on a Raleigh but look out for the RSP stuff (Raleigh special products). That's their top stuff. Archive section has all the catalogues or search for threads.

So has a worthy place on here?

I love this Saracen and it's thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

Thanks for your input on Raleigh also, so i need to look for a Dynatech, Mtrax or Technium?

Re:

In reference to your first post retro rides do happen go to the area section and check out whats local. some are more pro active then others but usually just needs someone to organise something.

Your saracen is as good as anything here for me. No such thing as a bad bike.

Raleigh I know little about but do like the later rsp models:

Update, Sold the bike...bought it back. Just read an intersting thread about the sale of this....."won't pay more than £75 for this" Seriously!!!

Looking forward to joining fellow retro bikers on the roads, tracks..

Thanks again for the comments above...it is a sweet bike and it won't be sold again.
