1996 Kona Cinder Cone. Size 19.5" Hope Ti Hubs.

Retro Newbie
Selling my 1996 Kona Cinder Cone. Frame size: 19.5". Colour: Gold. I spent the following 2 years upgrading it so most of the parts are from 1996-1998. Full list is below.

It was my beloved mountain bike when I bought it but has spent it's retirement years as my commuter bike on the few days when the weather was good. Always been kept indoors so it's in great condition. A few scuffs and scratches on the paintwork from cable rub but nothing serious and no dents or cracks.

Bearings in the Hope hubs are still as smooth as when i bought them which is amazing as they are the original bearings! Bottom bracket and headset were replaced a few years ago and spin freely. Gears shifts are still crisp and the hefty LX Vbrakes have plenty of power. I've never weighed it but it feels really light.

The bike rides superbly which is why I'm not selling the parts seprately. Need the cash to fund a new project. Looking for £290. Can provide more pics at higher quality if you give me your email address.

Thanks Kona-Ian

I have to confess that I can't remember for sure what size it was that I bought as I was enjoying myself quite a lot in 1996. I'm pretty sure it was 19.5" but Kona don't paint the frame size on the frame and the sticker that had the size on it came off a long time ago. I've just measured the frame and the length from the bottom of the BB shell to the top of the seat tube is 19.5", however the size from the centre of the BB shell to the centre of the top tube is only 16.5".

I've never paid much attention to frame sizes as a lot of bike companies measure differently so I just get on it and see which size feels right. I'm 5'10" and this felt good for me. The Kona sizes are probably common knowledge on this forum but thought I'd better post the measurements in case I'd made an @rse of the ad by posting the wrong size.

Cheers

Lovely bike. I'm glad the front hubs not silver or I'd be making an offer I can't afford for the wheels. GLWS.
