Retro Newbie
My hubby is ready to sell his 1995(?) Kona Kapu Bici strada. Bear with me, I don't know much about bikes but doing this as a favor. Trying to get the value of it. I am enclosing pictures. It's missing a seat and the back derailer is broken. My husband thinks its 54cm. Can anyone help me?

Wow. Is this in the UK? If so, it must be one of 2! I have a late season 1994 imported last year all the way from darkest Canada.

It's definitely a 1995 model. It's hard to value. They are rare, no question. The frame set is good quality Columbus Genius. But MTB brands doing road bikes from the mid-90's don't push many buttons.

In it's current guise if I had to guess I'd say about £100-175. I'd be very interested in it if you were willing to ship (I can organise the courier). If that sounds good to you then please PM me :-) If not, good luck with any sale!

You seem to be a big fan of the early Kona Kapu!

Here is my story.

I was working in Canada's north in the summer of 1996, and at the end of summer noticed a tiny red road bike in the Whitehorse bike shop. I was a poor student, so I offered him $800 for it. My new boyfriend was a road biker not a mountain biker so I was in the market :) Retail was I think about $1200. He said no. I returned to Whitehorse for winter work in November. The bike shop was now a ski shop, and in the back was the red bike. I offered him $800 again...and he took it! It turns out to be a 1995 Kona Kapu and I still have it today! I (unfortunately) swapped the stem at the shop for a shorter one and don't have the original...but otherwise she's in great shape and all original! New bar tape.
