And another one.......

This was the first proper MTB i ever had. I bought it with my earnings from my first bike shop job, with a little help from my boss and my dad :-)

I raced and rode that bike half to death over the next 3 years. I had it through the end of school and through college, but it was sold before uni, which i've regretted ever since.

Theres been 20+ bikes since, but i've been on the lookout for the exact same fire mountain i had when i was 16. I finally dropped lucky on ebay when i found an 18" 2 miles down the road. I was always gonna buy it, just depended on how much strife i got in....

So heres the first pic. Pretty much non of the original kit remains, but the frame and forks are good. This will probably be built using parts i already have and used as a mud guarded commuter for the time being. My Dekerf has depleted my energies and funds for now but the future may hold a full resto.

Next step is a strip down to check everything out. I'll then dive into the parts box....

So a hastily taken fuzzy old pic.

Re:

nearly went for this as I could pop round and pick it up on foot.

Put off by the thought of 'another bl**dy bike' rant from the missus................

Got your work cut out on getting some original bits back on her.

Its not really my style to scrabble about making things original. As long as the frame and forks are there i'm happy. Having said that i wouldnt mind a velocity stem back on it!

A couple of better pics. Someone's seems to have prised the rear cable stop apart. Might be saveable.

what rise/reach you looking for on the stem?

Probably the gold velocity to match, 125mm. 0 or 5 degree. Theres one on eBay at the moment but not sure its worth what they are asking..

I have a couple, a used one in silver 5 degree rise and a near mint in bronze 0 degree, can send some pics and prices if interested
