1994 Kona Lava Dome - Neglected Winter Hack!

Old School Hero
Hi Folks

The plan was sound, get a frame cheap and build it from bits from the shed. Cover it in mud, road salt etc and not worry too much about it.

I have been using it a lot, in the snow as trail centres too! Its been fantastic BUT.....No suspension and V-Brakes are a recipe for sore hands, wrists and elbows! I must be getting old!

Anyway, gave it a clean for the first time since November today. Looking good for what it its. Shes no looker so go easy on her!

Cheers

Dave

I have more neglected looking bikes that haven't been ridden

Odd things, Kona's, seems there's a lot of lovers and haters (and a few indifferent I guess), I really like them - in general 8)

But she's got risers and bar ends fitted, how can you do anything but look, point and laugh at her?

Haha! I know it looks bloody ridiculous but its such a long stem it kills my back, getting up on the bar ends is a welcome break!

Well, as long as I dont see my reflection in any lochs!

That's a lovely bike and if it's your 'neglected winter hack' then I've just got to see your good bike(s). I've never even had a bike that looks that good!
And anyway, what's wrong with bar ends? 8)

Just recently posted 2 other of my retrobikes, they are perfect (at the moment!)

Ernie: The seatpost I have is a Race light Kona and its 27.2. Let me know if it suits you.

Cheers

Dave
