I went round a friends yesterday and he had this Carrera he wants to get rid of. I have dated it as 1994. It has a similar style paint to another 1994 Carrera on here and has the 1994 STX groupset. Not sure which model it is, couldn't see Carrera catalogue in archive. It measures 17" seat tube c-c, 18" c-t. Top tube measures 21.5"
It has STX cranks, front and rear mechs, sti 7 speed units with brake levers and cantis. On one of the cantis the plastic around the spring has split and has a jubilee clip around it. The gears go through all the motions, if not indexed properly.
The frame is fairly tidy, a few chain induced chips on drive side chain stay. Some other marks on frame but not bad considering age. The stem is 120mm Tioga and the headset is Tioga Alchemy. The headset feels a little notchy but not inspected it.
The fork springs have collapsed. The might well be aftermarket forks and probably headed for recyling. The wheels aren't up to much. Sovos hubs and different rims on each. The back has quite a buckle in it.
In summary the frame is good, the STX groupset works and is complete (bar split plastic spring cover).
I am asking £30 for whole bike (I'll bin the wheels and forks if you want), or £20 for STX bits and £10 for frame.
Postage will be on top, but I do travel around a bit so may be able to organise collection/delivery.
