1993 Orange Vit T

Old School Hero
I just bought this bike a few days ago. It was an impulse buy. As some of you know, when a VRC opportunity comes, you have to decide pretty quickly or you will lose it.

Now that I have it, I realize that I can't really restore it properly without selling one of my other bikes. I have two other bikes I've been trying to sell to finance my next bike purchase, but they havent been going either. That said, now that I'm here, I've decided to let any of them go and ride whatever is left. It's ride worthy, but personally, I have no motivation to ride a VRC bike unless its been restored :)

What's here. It's a 17 inch 1993 Orange Vit T in polished titanium, no decals. The frame is excellent condition. No chain suck, no dings and no dents. Serious buyers, I can send you a pic of the serial number.

The group is a mix of Shimano XT and XTR

Crank - XTR 950 - Chainrings in good to great condition, arms have foot rub
Octalink BB BC137(?)- looks fairly new, smooth
Brake Levers - Altek forest green, fully machined
Rear Derailleur - XT 737 - good to great condtion, with forest green alloy pulleys.
Front D - XTR M901 - good condition, light rusting on cage (non-issue)
Shifter - XT M740 - good condition, slight rash on left indicator.
Brakes - XT M739 - great condition
Hubs -Chris King green anodized
Rims -Mavic 217 - well used, needs all new nipples up front, havent put it on a stand, no obvious dents or wobble.
Fork - Marzocchi Bomber Z2 Light - fully functional, perfect stanchions, light bubbling on lower legs
Headset - Chris King - smooth, green anodized, lightly sun faded.

Seat post, stem and bars are there, but they are not period. I stripped the Flite saddle of its badly torn covering, duhno if its worth re-upholstering.

Asking - USD $ 800, I am willing to keep the crank for a future project, we can talk.

In my opinion, the bike needs decals, period seatpost, stem, bar, saddle and an M730SG crank and BB and she will be period correct.

$800? you sure that's very cheap for a ti framed bike.
Not my size otherwise I would have it at that price this won't be around long!

Glws.

I'm talking US dollars. I think thats about 520 GBP.

Not looking to make a profit (not too much). I goggled the same bike fully restored with a price of $ 1200 so that's my guesstimate. Not to mention pretty close to my purchase cost :)

Do you mean £800? If so, about right for a Vit-T.

Anyway, interested in the frame if you split.

I have a feeling that you have a feeling that the groupset needs improvement. I have the same thought. I think the if I change the crank, it will be good.

Possibly stupid question - I assume this bike is in the states?

If uk based or willing to ship I'm interested in Frame if a split goes down.

Yep. The bike is in the US. I am willing to ship. I posted here in the first place as I think the UK will have more demand for an Orange bike than in the new world.

As for the split, I am going to wait a few days as there will be worked involved breaking down the bike, and selling the parts off.

I'd have been interested if the frame was larger. That said I'm in the uk so what would the postage costs be? If you split the build I'd be interested in the wheels and brake levers and skewers.

Never shipped to the UK a whole bike. Postage cost will be whatever the cost is. I'll deal with it together with a serious buyer.
