1993 Diamond Back Response Elite - 16" measures 17" C-T?

Hi all,

Diamond Back only sold this bike in 14", 16", 18" & 20" - why does the seat tube on this frame measure from the center of the crank (can't see it in the pic) to the top of the seat post ... 17"?

I was literally holding the other end of the tape measure in the center of the axle thread (bolt removed.)

Just wondering...

Thanks, kj

Not all manufacturers measurements are to top of seat tube, don't know how DB measure their frames though. Also i have had a few frames from different manufacturers where the seatpost doesn't equate to a catalogue size, i then use as i do with bikes i don't know, the top tube length for reference.

Well this is the 1993 catalog and it states they measure from center to top of the seat post, hence my confusion.

It is in fact 16" Center to Center.
