1992 Roberts White Spider

Retro Newbie
Hello all, been told about this site from some fanatical friends.

Here's my bike, it's just had an 18th birthday treat respray in white. Used to be silver/black. This bike's been everywhere with me and has remained largely unchanged (bar chains and inner/outer rings and V brakes added when they came out). Groupset has lasted well, got no issues with the XT thumbshifters, runs a first gen XTR rear mech. I finished building it the day before a 10 day tour of Switzerland and had never ridden on a Flite saddle before so was relieved it was comfortable to say the least..
I absolutely love this bike and recommend a bespoke frame to anyone. The forks and stem are by Roberts, the stem off the polished metal show bike from...92 I'm guessing.

I'm looking to doing some touring in Europe this summer, think the rack I got at the weekend is a little OTT so will be looking for something else.

Just for 'looks' will prob get a black seat post, I've not been into buying bikes or bits since the mid nineties so didn't realise that now nothing is interchangeble with it, and tube diameters all differ.. bit of a headache isn't it.

Nice, not seen a White spider with rack mounts, Looks awfully like my Roberts Genesis with them. Also would seem odd to have mounts on a top end race frame? You sure it isnt a Genesis?

Hi there - I asked for the mounts to be put on as I enjoy touring too. I think they started building the Genesis a year or two later from hazy memory.

Cool bikes you have there

That would explain it, and I think you are right the Genesis did kick in a little later.
