1991 YETI FRO............

yetifan.com

Devout Dirtbag
............but not just any YETI FRO.

Its Jimmy Deatons bike, as raced in DH, Slalom & XC (remember those days!) back in 1991.

Spec is exactly as it was in 1991, nothing changed, nothing modern. Even the cables & tubes are from 1991.

There are a lot of perfect and unused modern 'retro bike' builds, but I love the fact this is all period & wears its use well. This is no perfectly built spotless machine(maybe it was once), this thing shouts ' I've been raced' all over it.

Each scratch, chip and scuffed sticker has its own story, I love that this bike has raced against some of the greats, and was ridden by a true hero of early days MTBing. Jimmy won the Repack in 83 & 84 !

Some nice little touches here and there too.

Thanks for looking, hope you like it as much as I do.

I loved this when I saw it in Deaton's shed. He has a great collection and I'm glad this ended up in your hands.

Likely that thing went in to get the seattube fix 92-93, but yeah, its all right there.

He rode it for 91 season only, and that was that.

Still has all the 91 sponsor stickers on it, so not had a respray.

Bloomin' heck I remember the name of that rider but I didn't remember him being so tall!!
Nice bike though, must not have been cheap....

It must be Yeti special month or something :D

Nice piece of history there, good work in sourcing Deaton's actual bike. Does look big mind, also don't recall him being so tall!

Yeah, Jimmy is pretty tall. Met him a couple of times now. Myles was pretty tall too.

Yeah Yeti-man I have another nice bike from the period, although thats less original, its probably a lot more famous if you were around back in the day.
