Today a unicorn quest of mine is looking pretty good. Found a rainbow 1991 Marin Limited Edition in my size and pretty local on Craigslist, and cheap. Can't believe my luck. It pretty sun faded but doesn't look too bad since its already a rainbow paint job. Little crunchy in the BB.

Re:

Couple of more pics. Very excited to get this built up with a mix of 105 and 600 shimano parts!

Re:

Does any Marin lovers here on RB know the correct seat post size for this bike? Also does anyone have any limited edition builds that they have done? Thanks

Re:

Looking in my parts bin I lucked out and found a 26.4 seatpost. Saddle is a Chromag Lynx which I have been using on most of my bikes for the last two years. Been trying a number of bar and stem combos. At first I wanted to make this into a tri bike but now leaning more to standard road set up. Will be using 14 speed 105 and 600 components.

an automotive paint renovation product might bring some lustre back to those faded areas. try it somewhere subtle like inside the fork leg first though..

a nice cinelli-style stem would look grand too imo.

You could try a seat post with less layback or a shorter stem? I'd want to use the original stem! If not a salsa / tioga t-bone retro MTB influenced road stem would look cool. Good looking f&f for sure.

Re:

Been almost a year but started building again. Found a good deal on a bike with a Dura ACe build. So stripped that and started putting parts on the Marin. Starting to get excited about having this bike on the road soon.
