I bought my KCC new in 91 after a lot of saving & then my first few pay packet. It has served me well over the years getting me to & from work, general messing about & quiet a few cross country races when I was younger  I fitted a set of Onza bar ends & purple Onza paw grips (purple) not long after getting the bike & the following year I had the front forks resprayed Rover purple
Sadly things have worn out so a brand new set of Deore LX shifters/levers (from the early 90's) have now been fited to replace the Suntour XC LTD ones which i've now noticed are quiet a bit lighter than the Shimano set up.
The rear mech has been replaced with a Deore LX (MD567 I think it is) & the front mech is being replaced with a Deore XT. The wheels are getting replaced with a set of Mavic rims with XT hub.
It's going away from the standard spec I know but the 92 KCC my LBS were selling at that time had the Deore LX chain sets on so I don't think i'm that far away.
Just can't wait to get it all set up (if I remember how to) & get out on it again as i've always loved the feel of the bike

I'll put up a couple of new pic's once it's all back together & hopefully working
