So I just recently picked up a 1991 GT Xizang with the rear chromoly rear triangle (thanks to the members on here for giving me the info about the bike). Now, the question is, how is it worth? I paid a decent amount for it, I just hope it's worth at least what I paid. Any ideas?

Re:

Hi,

I think it is going to be tough to put a price on that one, given the fact that it's quite unique 8) ..

It is lovely though..!

Its an amazing frame (as in rare)... Only built for 1991 Production and very few about. Unfortunately the Size is 20" which is the least desirable making it less valuable compared to the 16" and 18". The frame looks in great shape but the components look like a mixed bag. If you want to get the most out of it id spend a bit of money, get ride of those forks and make it original XTR spec. If you take a look in the GT 91 Catalogue that should help... Oh and take that NoFear Sticker off haha ;)

GM will give you a better idea...

I think the only people who will worry about the stickers and component spec are those who don't fully appreciate what the frame represents and those people are unlikely to want to pay the price you could quite rightfully ask for it, even fully specced-up with XTR. Those who do know what it is won't worry too much about the spec, so spending money on components probably won't gain you the money you spent on them on the sale price.

I've no idea of the financial value of the thing, I'm just quite glad that it's too big for me, otherwise my bank balance would be in a lot of trouble if you ever decided to sell it :)
