1991 Diamondback Axis modded for disc brakes (203 rotors, XT quad hydraulic pistons). Frame able to handle 27.5 x 1.95 Maxxis tyres, not sure if it can handle something wider like 27.5 x 2.1 though. front suspension via redshift shockstop stem, rear suspension via cane creek eesilk seatpost.

... just goes to show that a classic frame can still be relevant today.

I picked up a 1994 Axis last week that I will be building up as a city/road friendly ride "guest bike" for friends who wanna go for a ride and don't own a bike.

The pre-95 stuff is seriously under-rated IMHO.
 
Used to be in Sydney but am in Manila, the Philippines, i bike at a place called BGC. it's nice for city biking just avoid the main roads. trails over here are good for gravel.
