1991 Claud Butler Cape Wrath pick up

Thanks to the wonders of Gumtree I am now the proud custodian of this lovely bit of Reynolds steel:

Look past the ‘Dad’ additions and shed grime - there’s a complete DX groupset there!

Quick clean shows promise, she needs the full strip down treatment but is this a willing donor? Or a refurbishment project?
Only time will tell…

Well as it turns out - it didn’t take long to decide, just when I was thinking it’s looking like a good project:

I discovered both crank arms had cracks once they were a bit cleaner.

Might be a part-out bike after all, keep your eyes peeled in the for sale section if you need DX parts..

Anyone cycled their Claud Butler Cape Wrath (any year) to Cape Wrath itself in the Scottish Highlands? Sounds like a worthy adventure to me.
