1988/89 Saracen Special Edition Frameset - SOLD

I recently purchased this from a gentleman in Scotland in order to unashamedly harvest the full black XT groupset, so the frame and forks is now up for sale.

This model isn't featured in the period brochure due to the fact that issuing end of season special edition models was a practice sometimes undertaken by Saracen to get rid of excess frames and groupsets. Don't let this put you off as this is an excellent quality and rather nice Tange Prestige frame and fork with BB and seat cluster lugs and a lugged fork both factory finished in satin black with extra 'Special Edition' and 'Deore XT' decals. It is size 18" and takes a front canti and rear U-brake. The paint is in great condition and scratches are minimal, there are no dents or signs of rust whatsoever. The sale includes a very sexy bright pink Saracen bottle cage, a Deore Headset, original Kalloy seatpost (great cond), original Saracen Mountain sprung saddle (tatty), seat QR, original stem, M730 Deore XT bottom bracket and an XT U-brake is also available at extra cost should the buyer be interested.

Interesting it has the tange prestige sticker. That would indicate it is a kili frame, as that had tange prestige main frame (or it did in 89 anyway).

Very nice anyway.

If it got down to smaller splitting I'd potentially be interested in bottle cage, headset and stem.

That is an interesting one. Looks like a high end 87 or 88 frameset probably sold in 89 as the Special Edition.

Can't really afford to splash out on yet another bike at the moment. Tempting as it is...

But if the XT u brake is M731 then I would be very interested in it too

Thanks chaps, I thought it was a conquest when I saw the ad on gumtree as it looks very much like the 88/89 Conquest with its XT 'expedition' groupset, but the conquest has a 531 frame set.

I'm not splitting yet I'm afraid.
