Dirt Disciple
Hi everyone and happy christmas. I want to run something past more knowledgeable people on here. I bought an old bike on ebay a couple of years ago, which turns out to be a 1973 (March) built TI Raleigh Road Bike (race replica?). Having discovered the frame number (hidden under layers of paint/repaint I believe it was built in March 1973 in the Nottingham factory. It has some nice features as in a full Suntour groupset (no idea which one), Weinman brakes, Mavic M5 rims and runs what I can only call 'sweet'
. Paid £100 for it, so not much investment.
I recently also bought a Ribble road bike with a 531 Reynolds frame and a full Campagnolo group set (including the brakes). Comparing the two frames I believe that the TI Raleigh bike DOES have a 531 frame, it's just as lightweight as the Ribble and looks the same.
Now, here's my question: the shop where I bought the Ribble from offered me £60 for the Raleigh (so a px for the Ribble) which I declined (had to have a new wheel built for the Raleigh, which cost me £80 including the wheel) and I just like the feel of the bike. BUT ... I have no idea how much the Raleigh might be worth with those components? A friend urged me NOT to sell the Raleigh as it's in his view a treasure to come ...
Any ideas anyonce?
thanks
Martin
