For sale, 1972 Falcon San Remo racing cycle, designed by Ernie Clements.

Reynolds 531 butted tubing with Campag fork ends. Chrome forks with sloping crown and wrap over rear stays also with chrome ends.
Original paint, a few minor scratches.
The bike has a Campag headset, Campag 10 speed Nuovo Record, Cinelli stem, Lyotard pedals (will fit Campag Road pedals with Chrisophe toe clips for the sale). Zeus cotterless chainset 52/43. Thanks for replying. Why do you say the San Remo Equipe was made only in 1972 and 1973? My understanding is that model ran from 1962 to 1979.

What is the provenance of the bike and do you have some comprehensive photos please?

Many thanks.

Re:

The frame number is 24630. The frame and parts were purchased separately. The frame is falcon san remo with mainly campag equipment.
Hope any of this is any help to you.
If you have a phone number or any other way of contact may be easier as can pass them details to my dad who's bike it is. He knows it all in depth and would be able to give you more information if thats of any use to you?

Re:

Thank you for the nice set of photos.

That is a really nice very original frame. Typical of the era in that it was bought as a frame and the buyer added the components of their choice. I notice in this case the components are all high spec as befits a great bike. That particular frame style I think was sold in 1970 for £14 10s. 0d. and the factory built it up in three different ways as an Olympic model 78, a San Remo Mk II model 90, or a San Remo Mk III model 90.

I collect Falcon cycles and am the Marque Enthusiast for Falcon for the Veteran Cycle Club. Now I can see the whole bike it is all clearer. I am actually looking for a San Remo with 531 butted tubing, chromed head lugs and the wrapper seat stays which are flattened. I am sorry not to be taking this any further. Very best wishes with facilitating a sale for your Father.

Cheers.

Equipe simply means team and was usual moniker for frames that were the same as the ones the Falcon Team rode.

My mid 70's San Remo is an Equipe as it was built identically to the team frame of the day.... Only Billy Holmes arranged for it to be sprayed pink, the same as the pink Giro decal on the Merckx lol
