1970's Olmo Competition

Dirt Disciple
Currently under construction for the Eroica Britannia. Before I received it the plan was to respray and fit a late 80's, little used Super Record group but I've warmed to the worn look now it's here. Plan B is to resurrect some old Campag now rusting in the cellar which last saw use on my brother's despatch riding bike in the 80's.

Post a picture when its done :) .There seems to be lots of variants of the Competition, does your one have a slotted BB Shell ?
Mike.

It has a double slot unlike my former 1980's Competition. The unusual feature of the frame is the chainstay protector which along with the gear cable running over the chainstay seems to have done it's job very well.

Almost all Nuovo/Super Record apart from Simplex Retrofriction gear levers and Stronglight cartridge headset. All went together pretty well after some rear derailleur setbacks. The first option of rebuilding one mech from two off ebay failed when the donor mech had more issues than it was letting on. Option two had me sweating when one of the limit adjusters refused to go back in after cleaning. An hour's coaxing with some sharper screws from a Deore XT mech got it back in again. Not sure about the tyres as I think some skinwalls might make it look more purposeful. I'm pleased with the saddle which has recovered from a sun-bleached tan colour to a respectable brown after a few coats of Nikwax.
