1950 Macleans Featherweight Track or Path

Re:

PeachyPM,

Apart from cleaning off all the grease residue which had built up on the frame over the years I have never applied any sort of treatment to clear up the original oxidisation or inhibit any further occurrences. The frame has not deteriorated over the last two years, but I’ve not ridden it in the rain and it’s stored in a damp free garage.

I try and do a little 10 Mile circuit around where I live a couple of times a week and although I have 4 other vintage bikes to choose from (2 Mercians and 2 Emperor Sport TT bikes) I tend to use the Macleans much more! Although it’s single speed (52 x 17), it’s so flat around Southend that the lack of gears is irrelevant. It’s just so simple and comfortable to jump on and ride.

Steve.

Lovely looking bikes their, love that primrose / custard yellow paint colour especially :)

Interesting to hear about the rust treatment method, it sounds easy and achievable!
