I think it's just the distortion from taking the photo from too close Jez. You can accuse Konas of lots of things, but having a steep head angle isn't one of them! I think the apparent tapering of the down tube is also caused by photo distortion.jez-4-bikes-max":8afm6s84 said:Im wondering why that headtube is so steep - Hei Hei's or even Kahunas dont have THAT steep a headtube surely?
Well, not quite ALL. This is the only picture I have of a 1996 KK, which has a slim top tube with no gusset and only a very small down tube gusset. You can't really see it from this angle, but it's visible in the catalogue picture. The main differentiator for the 1996 KK was the 6-4 stays, which do apparently give a stiffer rear end than the Hei Hei. Note that as this frame is a 96, it has the higher and non-Kona-like top tube design used on most but not all Hei Heis from 94 to 96.DM":2kqo6x9y said:FluffyChicken":2kqo6x9y said:Kahuna had (from the tube description ) ovalised/directional shaped tubing
And the early ones did have "Hei Hei" stickers on the top tube.
Buuut... I thought ALL KKs had the front end gussets??
