Perhaps he has fallen victim to the Craigslist scam, that always seems to come from a Nigerian with a very proper/formal way of speaking English that request the item be shipped, and he is always willing to send more than the asked for price, so long as the seller cashes it out, and sends him the difference.

It's a stupid scam- don't know how anyone has fallen for it. Perhaps he thinks all people with proper English, asking for shipping are in cahoots with the scamming "Nigerian"
