130mm hub on a 135mm frame

Steel you will be fine, ran for years like that. Aluminium is not such a great idea.

It's simpler to buy a Cyclo replacement axle, add a few B&Q washers to space out the left side and then redish the wheel - let out a turn on the drive side spokes and take it up on the left.

but mainly agree, i used a 130mm hub on a steel 135 frame no problems, in fact i didnt even notice until i took the wheel off about 6 months later. titanium should also be ok, alloy, cabon or magnesium is a no no
