you know these frames are full race frames and put you right over the front :shock:

My Maguras cost me £160 a couple of months ago. However, they are in mint condition and just about unused. I thought that expensive, despite their condition, but I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived.
CK is right, there's not much to fiddle with; only air pressure, rebound damping, slow speed compression damping and high speed compression damping , and there's lockout, not that you need it if you set up the compression damping right. You can of course, ramp up the spring rate progression just as you like it, too.
I was kinda interested in that Moto Rapido too, but it was just a bit too small. Lovely bikes they are!
Salsa recommend 85mm forks. Nowhere do they mention 100mm...
I had a modern Salsa Caballero last year that had 100mm recommended. I tried 85- 130, and it was definitely best with 100.
Why not try a white fork, with mango headset? A Magura Durin or Laurin is just as light, but even stiffer (steering wise), and can usually be had for under £200, though prices seem to have risen as they get better known.

still there's no rush, would like to get it rideable first then hunt for parts.
I'm afraid some parts will be going on from the Scott at the moment,
Got a few nice bits as well though

BTW with these forks I forgot to mention, they musn't be full disc as Im quite happy with V's and not an advanced disk mechanic ^^

and the moto rapido works best with 85mm travel for racing xc but with a 100mm fitted is a bit more relaxed and more trail friendly :shock:
and when it comes to the magura's i was on about these http://www.magura.com/en/products/suspe ... ce-14.html as the only have preload rebound and lockout more of a fit and forget non fettle type not slagging them off :roll: :roll: as they are a nice fork
Best bang for your buck is Rock Shox Recon Race. Just renovated a pair that had been run with no air in for 2 years. New seals and oil, cushty.
Recon is a single air fork - so less fiddly than a Reba or SID, and everyone runs same air pressure in Reba and SID upper and lower chamber anyway.
Darts are pretty horrible IMHO.
