1" 1/8th threaded alloy steerer?

I have a set of Judy Races I want to put on my cinder cone which has a threaded 1" and 1/8th headset. Can I tap a thread into the alloy steerer or will it weaken it too much?

Do not thread any threadless steerer, alloy or sreel.

I asked the same question a while back and got the same 'NO NO NO NO NO' answer. My solution was to get someone to machine a new steerer.

Manufacturers OEM stickers forbid threading alloy steerers as it weakens them - get a new headset as alloy Judy steerers are pretty rare and weigh a lot less...

You know how a break-away alloy derailleur bolt works? You would basically be turning your steerer into one of those, only with far greater shear forces than a derailleur will ever experience - a new headset is cheaper than new teeth and a new fork.
