£222,000! I remember when they couldn't give them away

Dealers are funny people

They can advertise the price they think will get them the most media advertising for free

Better buy a vfr750 for 1800 quid and spend the rest on bicycles

   The same dealer had one up for 110k last year and I know he took delivery of another before the first one had sold. I don't know if he ever got the first one sold but this still looks like an interesting sales tactic. Not unlike some nos mtb bits I've seen stupidly priced on ebay.
Before this guy advertised at 110k, about 60-75k seemed fair value for one of these.
I suppose it only takes one fool with the money to eventually come along and you've hit the jackpot......

There was a dealer in Sweden that uncrated a NR and a RC-30 they had stored in their back room last year. Much pomp and circumstance was made about it.

Nice advert for the dealer but I'd rather have one with 10k on the clocks and a bit of patina.
If you were to fill the tank and start up either of those the engine would probably eat itself in a matter of minutes. All that time with no lubrication touching any of the internals..... Think how perished all the seals are now. Not to mention all the gummy residue from the old oil and the possibility of internal rust depending on where the bike had been stored.

Probably the ultimate shop display mind.

Much better bikes treated much worse. Strange world.

Same with cars too - I remember reading a thread about some exotic supercar and one owner remarked it cost less to give it a regular thrashing every week and pay the usual (horrendous) servicing costs, rather than keep it stored for 9 months a year and then discover all sorts of problems, breakdowns and warranty claims when it does eventually get used....
