    Carlton Criterium 1972-73

No need to apologise - that's one of the best colour schemes ever applied to a bike frame. Lovely.

    British Eagle Strato

That looks great - the colour scheme's really good, with the white decals over off white paint. I wish my dad bike looked like that! BE had that brief period of independence where they were based in Wales didn't they? Is that from back then, or after they were bought out by Falcon?

Carlton Circuit to postmodern faux randonneur

Re: Here's Molly the cat pointing out that the threads on the fork don't look to clever, and probably won't take the headset that well. Molly is lucky she doesn't have opposable thumbs, otherwise she would have ended up with the job of fitting the stupid headset. As it was, the frame went...

Love this Bagpuss. Great photos. Wensleydale looks awesome - that's the first time I've seen Castle Bolton in nice weather!

Re: 1948 Claud Butler Avant Coureur #82395 Oh yes! When is it turning up?

    Faggin Campione del Mondo

Re: Re: Thanks - I am really looking forward to getting it back on the road. I don’t think it’s top of the line - there are details like the Faggin name in the seat stay top eyes that this one doesn’t have. But Jacksons have done a brilliant job of bringing it back to life. Do you have any...

    Carlton headbadge

Molly the cat says I need to get a headbadge fitted here pronto! This was a late seventies Circuit, with the blocky black and white sticker, but I think I'd like a metal "cycling man" headbadge to replace that - certainly a metal headbadge of some sort. Have a rummage in your spares box, and...

    Faggin Campione del Mondo

There now follows a brief photographic interlude, which, because of the magic of the internet, will last only as long as it takes me to take some reasonable photos of this frame, but in real life lasted from September to December of last year, while it slowly moved up the queue at Jacksons, and...

    Unknown Frame

Re: It’s turned out handsome, whatever it is. That looks like a good, chunky seatpost so presumably it’s made out of something decent. Have you ever thought about having it stripped to see whether there are any other clues hiding under the powder coat?

    1989 Raleigh 8901 in 653

Next level colour coordination happening right there. I can't work out whether it's the Hepworth complementing the raleigh perfectly, or the other way round. But it looks great either way!

    Faggin Campione del Mondo

When I was deep in the broken Carlton pain cave last year (viewtopic.php?f=23&t=399314) my dad called and said that he was clearing out the bike bits that he had left, and he wondered whether I'd like any of them? He reminded me that among the clean and carefully boxed components was a frame...

Carlton Circuit to postmodern faux randonneur

I'd love to say that I steamed straight into putting the thing back together. But I actually stuffed it in the back of a wardrobe so that I could faff a bit more until the wheels were ready. These looked rather beautiful with their shiny spokes, and eventually guilt tripped me into getting the...

    Principia Rex - advice needed

Re: I think Principia are Danish aren't they? It's the first time I've seen one outside the pages of a magazine. Stick up a picture of the other side so we can see what groupset / gears it has. That's a really nice colour scheme it's wearing. Shame about the front wheel!

Jack Taylor Super Clubman Barn Find - * small update page 14

Re: Jamie - I'd be happy to look at as many pictures of this as you can take. Don't worry about posting too many! It's a once in a lifetime find, and a prefect time capsule.

    Corima Cougar

Re: Re: Bank managers would just be like “Don’t worry about the repayments - I can see you’ve got more important things to do.” That’s just an amazing looking thing.

Carlton Circuit to postmodern faux randonneur

Re: It’ll definitely get some decals, but not the blocky black and white ones that it originally had. I’ve got some in a drawer somewhere that are the same as on Bodmin General’s bike above, so if I can find them, that’s probably what I’ll go with.

Carlton Circuit to postmodern faux randonneur

Re: While the frame was in the queue at the powder coaters for its turn in the blasting cabinet, I did some fretting about colour schemes. I was eyeing up everyone else's bikes in the Carlton Facebook group for inspiration, and I really liked the look of Bodmin General's lovely red ride...

    1989 Raleigh 8901 in 653

Re: Love this. Such a great colour scheme. I guess it's from Raleigh's twilight years, but it's a beautifully made frame and it looks so fresh.

    Project Peugeot 531 Pro

Re: I’ve got a Peugeot MTB which needs some really similar decals. I’m hoping Lloyds can knock some up with photos and measurements. I’ll give you a shout if I’m right.
