    Mystery and Unidentified Parts

They look like the bits supplied with a Royce BB tool for bolting it in place. :)

    How accurate are catalogs?

    If it's a 94 then 410mm. 👍

    How accurate are catalogs?

The geometry was slightly different, 94 was the year they moved from a 395mm axle to crown fork to a suspension corrected 410mm. With a corresponding reduction in headtube length to maintain stack height. 👍 😁

He replied up there ^ I meant to quote it but didn't and can't add it.

On One 456 Evo - horizontal / slot dropout?

Shedfire is Brant, he probably knows. :)

    How accurate are catalogs?

I think that's a 96. Came with Magura HS 11s and that looks like the edge of a Columbus tubing decal and the 96 blue main decals. But yes that's not the cleanest looking joint is it. :)

    How accurate are catalogs?

I had a non splined 94 Explosif, ended up being the exact same frame as my 94 Kilauea. Which according to the catalogue it shouldn't have been. I can only assume that as Tange stopped production of the Ultrastrong downtubes and Kona had Explosif orders left to fill they did the next best thing...

Hope conversion kits 142mm to 135mm

That is a Pro 4 DH hub. It was indeed available in 142. Your best bet for the right kit is to get in touch with Hope directly for the part no. and then order through any Hope dealer. Before you do though be aware that as the driveside flange is canted out over the freehub body, done to even out...

BoTM Bike of The Month June 2025, now taking entries

It's Canadian and has a tenuous Brodie link. 😂 Making up the numbers. Benjabbi's 1995 Rocky Mountain Vertex Build thread

    They're certainly nice looking skewers. 😍👍 😁

    QR etched Logo ID

Yeah Middleburn. They look like mini RS-7s if my memory serves me right?

Wanted Pace Rear Hub - is there such a thing?

They did an earlier screw on freewheel hub to match the front with an Acetol body. They never did a cassette hub though and had discontinued the rears by the time the carbon fronts appeared. 👍 😁

    1995 Rocky Mountain Vertex

Cut a teeny (the slightly wonky) bit off the steerer and lost the headset spacer. Borrowed the grannyring spacers off the other Raceface just to see what it looks like. 👍 😁

BoTM BoTM May 2025 - Bar end special. It's voting time

Cool, that's nicely resolved, I felt a bit bad for pointing it out but rules is rules! 😁

BoTM BoTM May 2025 - Bar end special. It's voting time

I hate to be pedantic but one of those has no chain. Is that not against the rules?

    Bottom bracket newbie question

That looks a bit long to me? If that is an LX M569 or M570 crankset then it should be on a 113mm axle. :)

    Bottom bracket newbie question

He does mention he has another identical UN-72 with a BSA cup. Just swap the cups and Bob's your Mothers brother. :)

    Bottom bracket newbie question

Screw a bolt into the end of the axle, rest the cup flange on the jaws of a vice and give it a tap or two, it shouldn't be tight, tight. To be fair, as long as it's not super crusty, you don't usually even need the vice, just grip the cup and tap away. :)

    Bottom bracket newbie question

Yes, you can knock the cartridge out of the cup on a UN-72 and re use your Italian cups on it. The actual cartridge is identical. It's just the cups that differ. :)
