    Ask you anything

Google to the rescue for me: No I haven't but I do have a story to tell It's about the woman who in love with I fell This also happened in the U.S. nation A long time ago; it involved no frustration We met in a classroom as peeps often do She caught my eye - fortunately I have two It turns...

    Ask you anything

Winner by default. There's no shame in it. Personally I have no other bike purchases planned. Ever. Next question: Do you play any instruments and are you any good?

    Ask you anything

Here's another question while I collate that data: What's the last lie you told?

    Ask you anything

Let's give this one more shot: Is beauty truth, and truth beauty? Bonus points if you answer in sestet.

    Ask you anything

A fan of the Socratic method, I see. As was Laurence Olivier, who always pops into my head when I hear those three words: Enlightening as it would be to interview old Ben about the world today, we're treading dangerous ground here, so let's move on to æsthetics. Is this or is it not one of...

    Ask you anything

This is the idea: I throw a question out there. Anyone can answer. I choose my favourite answer, reprint it on my blog (https://www.notanothercyclingforum.net/index.php?board=142.0), then ask another. First question: Is it safe?

    Politics

Unless I’m mistaken, this forum doesn’t do politics/religion/that sort of thing. Therefore I’m offering my own space, if anyone is interested: Free For All, right on top here: https://www.notanothercyclingforum.net Apologies to the mods if this sort of post isn't allowed.

    Cycling and headphones

Dude's got a lot of bread to cast after selling his catalog. Some songs need to be loud. They don't sound right otherwise. More seriously, I think of Roger Daltrey mercilessly pounding his eardrums into uselessness; next time I ride by his house (we're nearly neighbours) I'll turn the music...

    Cycling and headphones

(Part II) No offence to the OP, and credit for admitting grumpiness, but this is the usual scolding tone. My personal recalibration happens to involve "augmenting" with, among others, Dylan. Whenever this subject comes up I hear "enjoy the silence". As if! There's never silence. At the very...

    Cycling and headphones

I've been using headphones for (runs out of fingers & toes to count) a long time. Never had a problem – even in the thick of London. Especially in the thick of London. One underappreciated benefit of music is it drowns out abuse. I get my purity from riding singlespeed.

Cyclists care more about the common good

In this vein, one of the bonuses of ‘iPod* cycling’ (I’m a practitioner - have been for a long time) is that when people hurl abuse at you, you generally can’t make it out. *speaking of retro

    Retro newbie

Sabbath Aspire Langster Dahon Presto Lite, sporting a short-lived bodge Sabbath Aspire – as you can see, I took great pains to distinguish it from my other one No problem. Totally agree. PS. I appear to have turned into a "Dirt Disciple". And I try to stay so clean.

    Retro newbie

Hello. I registered a little over a year ago then wandered off… Having wandered back in, I have a few questions. - Are there any topics best avoided because they give the moderators headaches? - Does going OT tend to annoy people here? From my look around so far, it seems to be tolerated...

    Should I get a bell?

On the country lanes which are my usual haunt I frequently meet equestrians and dog walkers. I just slow down and say HELLO loud enough to get their attention. Sometimes they reply "You should get a bell" (usually friendly enough), which always strikes me as odd, as clearly the HELLO worked, and...

So sorry to hear about pets that are no longer with us. There are some beautiful pictures on this thread. Here's Chompsky taking stock of himself. Mind the volume.

what was something you used to think was crap but now you quite like it?

I really can't think of anything bike-wise, so I'm going to say my hometown. Couldn't wait to escape - left the day I turned 18. It just seemed so boring and dead end (bonus: I grew up on a dead end street). Now when I visit I see it has most of what I need. It's also quiet but not too quiet...

    Great big Singlespeed thread!
