Progress is slow, but positive. Lovely condition frame slowly being revealed…..what are thoughts on a naked frame with clear lacquer and new decal set? Not sure on RC30 fork finish to compliment it?

Ha, yeah, I saw that last night……amazing invention! Next they’ll be put suspension on the rear!!!! And increasing the amount of travel…..and creating different disciplines……and as for the geometry, they’ll need to slacken that head angle with that amount of travel up front 😜 It’s so funny...

Yeah, I too wouldn’t bother carrying spare pads and even if one did break down mid ride, it’s not the end of the world. If you did carry spare pads, risk of being contaminated in storage, etc. I’ve only once gone through a set of pads mid ride, at Ardrock a few years ago when it was muddy AF...

Would this and the prestige be the same grey? Anyone got a good match with a RAL number?

So, the freeze 🥶 spray won’t be needed now…..a heat gun, water spray and 3 hot/cold cycles later and it’s free! Look at the state of it though. Stem was even easier, no heat required.

So, we have progress but I fear not all good. Bike stripped apart from seatpost and stem/forks combo……bike has not seen any easy life by any means and am I about to reveal an aluminium and steel galvanic bonding nightmare???!

Got frame for £25, with wheels and delivery (saving me a tenner and 1.5hrs round trip), I give him £50 for it.

Assuming I do something with it, I’d love a white orange fade paint job, with matching white on the forks……with black and silver running gear. Question is, how close do you go to catalogue or period correct? First things first, I’ve got an RC200 to finish.

So…..it is indeed an orange, I’ll go with ‘93 prestige, only cos I know no different. I can take pics if anything else will help with identifying it. Forks are indeed RC30’s, poor condition tho, black tape around the legs, chrome coming off etc. Suntour xc comp brakes fr and rr which I assume...
