    1990 Specialized Stumpjumper Comp

Re: U-Brakes Very nice bike. I was under the impression Specialized stopped using U-Brakes after 1987. At least in the U.S. they did. Still a great bike.

    Technium Help

For all the experts out there, I have a 1989 Technium, US version. It looks to be original except for the seat and cockpit. The Scott handle bars and Tioga stem are aftermarket. Does anyone know what came on the bike stock?

One Of My Best Works Of Art To Date

I wasn't expecting anything nearly that nice when I opened the thread. What I like about MTB's is the fact that you can experiment on them. There is no norm when it comes to design. Probably because they are changing so much so fast. Good job

    1984 Stumpjumper

It looks like an 83. In 1984 they used a Specialized branded Sugino crankset and a slingshot stem. Your bike has the chrome bullmoose bars. Personally, I like the 83 a lot. Good luck on the project.

My Orange c16r Re-Re build... update FOR SALE

Re: #2 Orange c16r built my way That is a VERY nice bike. Did you ever think about painting the fork sliders white? It might be overkill but who cares.

1995 Specialized Hardrock Ultra - here we go again :D

Check the brake levers again. Some Shimano levers could be used for V or Canti depending on where you hooked up the cable.

Is the front wheel a 26"?

    Cannondale SM400 Singlespeed

That is a very clean and elegant bike. Bling is highly overrated.

    GM's Overburys Pioneer

Very nice bike. Wouldn't the U-Brake on the seat stays place it more in the 87-88 era? I wonder if the STI and DX are later additions.

To Sell or Not to Sell

Errrmmmmm, YES Seeing as it's meant to be fa·ce·tious and it concerns Retro Bikes, at least early Stumpjumpers used to be retro. I'm guessing if I have to explain the humor to you that you must not get it. That and the fact you had the thread moved.

To Sell or Not to Sell

Well I have an 82, 83, 84, 85, 86 and a 92 Stumpjumper. Plus assorted parts bikes. It's a lot easier to get them stateside than in the UK. Let's face it, vintage bikes are great. Compared to modern suspension bikes they are not quite as good riding. They do make killer urban bikes.

To Sell or Not to Sell

I keep thinking about selling off my vintage bikes and buying a nice new modern 29er. But every time I look at all my little babbies I just can't bare to get rid of them.

    Stumpjumper

I have the exact same bike including the purple paint and red decals. Mine is a 1992. BTW very nice bike.

    1989 Rockhopper first ride

I thought the dark blue was 1988 and the all cantilever and light blue was 1989. I still have my 89 Rockhopper Comp. It's the light blue version. I bought it new so I'm sure it's an 89.

    Specialized S-Works steel
