Road frame and forks - GIVEAWAY

Anyone interested before I take it to the skip at the weekend? Pick up only from Haywards Heat (Sussex), I'm afraid. Cheers

Road frame and forks - GIVEAWAY

Thanks. I'd initially guessed it was Raleigh - my friend picked it up when he was doing a PhD at Nottingham and the cable guide underneath the BB says Raleigh. But I googled the serial number (63205) and it didn't seem to tie with the formats that Raleigh apparently used back then. I've dated...

Road frame and forks - GIVEAWAY

I have an old road frame and forks (no idea of maker) which I'm happy to give to anyone willing to pick up from Haywards Heath, Sussex. I've attached a few photos. It was a barn find - a friend was going to take it to the skip (he hadn't ridden it since university and it had been sat in one of...

Sold FOR SALE/TRADE: 1992 Kona Kilauea

Thanks for the extra photos. I know MTBs are supposed to be covered in mud  but it is a bit hard to see the condition of the bike - hard to tell what the mud is hiding (e.g. around the headset).

Sold FOR SALE/TRADE: 1992 Kona Kilauea

Good question. I guess I'm looking at it from the point of view of just being able to ride it. I've got an old Marin which I'm umming and aahing about getting sprayed, new decals, etc. So I'm looking at something I can just ride and enjoy - I don't want or need another project - and something...

When did muddy fox sell out?

As another retro noob, I'm with the OP on this. When I was a teenager (1980s), Muddy Fox were really cool bikes. These days, more BSOs than bikes. Would be good to see a return to form for them.

Yet another 1991 Marin Pine Mountain!

So here're some photos as is. Good rat bike but I fancy smartening it up a little. So, once my retro single speed road bike project is back together (so I have a pub bike - more realistically, a taking the eldest to footie practice on a Saturday morning bike) then next step is to...

    Orange P7 19 inch **** update now split *****

Re: Orange P7 19 inch **** reduced***** Actually - scrap that - I am VERY tempted but CAN'T face the wrath of SWMBO at the moment. I need to finish a couple of current projects and have a cull of the bike shed/man cave before buying anything else.

Yet another 1991 Marin Pine Mountain!

Good tip - thanks. Is that the North Camp on the south side of Farnborough? My company has an office in Farnborough which I work from occasionally. I could find a good excuse to pop over there and drop the bike off / pick it up while I'm there. Pics will be posted at the weekend (I'm not...

Yet another 1991 Marin Pine Mountain!

I confess that I thought £105 was a little pricey, but I'm new to this so don't really know. Cost of living is a lot in the south-east, for retrobikers and powdercoaters alike! :) I am from near Scunthorpe originally so might just strap the bike to the back of the car next time I head up north...

Yet another 1991 Marin Pine Mountain!

Thanks. I spoke to JR Finishright in Horsham (powdercoaters near me). The guy was very helpful on the phone but was clear that bikes aren't really their thing, although they'd be happy to do it for about £105. A generic dark grey for the frame isn't a problem but he said they don't do fluoro...

Yet another 1991 Marin Pine Mountain!

These seem to be flavour of the month on retrobike so I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring too. I picked mine up on eBay a few years ago with the intention of making it into a rideable pub bike, and learning more about bike maintenance. It had been sat in someone's shed for a number of years...

    1991 Marin pine mountain.......finished on page 2......

Re: 1991 Marin pine mountain....... Gil_m just sorted me out with decals for my 1991 Pine Mountain. The originals disappeared long before I bought it. I haven't put the replacements on yet - still debating whether to go for a respray first. I don't have the time or enthusiasm to do it myself...

    Marine Eldridge Grade -93 Headset

Thanks for the eBay tip! I asked in a few bike shops and they all shook their heads about my chances of getting a headset which would fit. One shop actually suggested I buy a new fork, aheadset and stem - I can't see that being less than £100 - and this is supposed to be more of a hack bike...
