    Rekord De Luxe

I'm back, I just found this discussion in Germany and this bike is more like yours. http://www.velomobilforum.de/forum/inde ... ord.25990/ So, I don't speak German, maybe one can tell what they are saying but that bike looks like it was made by the same people who made yours. Austro...

    Garelli Road Bike

You are probably right. The picture of the rear dropout stumped me a bit.

Edit https://picclick.de/1946er-Rekord-Herre ... id=1&pid=1 Next post though, I think is much more helpful, perhaps these were the same companies.

Jimi too. Even if one weren't into the band, that Black Sabbath one is handsome.

    Garelli Road Bike

Logo is the same for the motorbikes, Handlebar stem and handlebars are SR, Japanese company, maybe SR SaKae. Check the crank and pedals too, to see if they are made in Japan. Brakes too, are they Dia Compe? Those were made in Japan too. A lot of Japanese parts it looks like . Still, a...

    Raleigh Aravis

I searched bing and google for "Raleigh Aravis", I was getting some hits and look for images too. But I was getting info; maybe it was sold in Spain and Italy or something. It also looked like a few companies had bikes called that. Col des Aravis? French mountain, hills?

    Hill Special Cycles - Lancashire

Really nice website on this vintage brand. I enjoy learning about more obscure bikes rather than the usual popular ones, I mean, both are great. http://www.hill-special.co.uk/index.html Quite a bit to see.

Please Help ID Unknown Aussie Tourer

Are you a member of that Australian Cycling Forum? They have a Retro-Bike area: http://www.bicycles.net.au/forums/viewforum.php?f=23 They have a few very nice vintage bikes from there. A fairly friendly bunch too should you ask them.

    cocacola v stuck seatpost

I tried everything on a stuck seatpost; well, as a last resort, I happened to know some garage mechanics who owed me a favour. I took the bike up there and asked them if they could loosen it and by golly they did. So, these car mechanics must have had some powerful tools or a vice to do loosen...

    Wear a helmet or not?

I once read Greg Lemond recommend helmets in his bike manual even though he acknowledged he usually didn't wear one back in those days. He said you can even hit your head on the curb. Now to me, that's overdoing it but some folks are out there and clipped in, sort of made sense to me. If one is...

    1980's Viking Triomphe

http://www.adverts.ie/road-bikes/viking ... e/11315349 (Sell is off now); Viking Triomphe purchased in Ireland, campagnolo. That is already looking like late '80s, still lugged. http://www.adverts.ie/road-bikes/viking ... e/11315349 Maybe this is even the bike you purchased.

    Minor task Raleigh All Steel

I'm getting the serial number as 823167, is there a number or letter before "8". Here are some resources but they don't seem to help much, let me say, as in the first link, sometimes Raleigh 3 speed bikes had the serial number on the seat tube cluster area. This might be the early 1950s...

    Minor task Raleigh All Steel

Not long ago, I saw another bike someone had that was moss covered, I had previously, never seen that or noticed it at least, before in my life. -------- Do the mudguards, especially rear one, give one a clue as to brand? Why did you say Raleigh? Head badge?

    Minor task Raleigh All Steel

Very nice, well, that chain wheel (crank) definitely looks like a Rudge to me. And perhaps, it could use a chain guard. Rudges actually seem to be quite in demand; I don't know why some of their old bikes are more sought after.

    Wear a helmet or not?

I just read about a collarbone injury on page 1 here, ouch! 25 mph is fast, I'm not one of the speedsters, maybe I hit it sometimes. I hope you recover and am sorry to hear about this injury, it just happened.

    Wear a helmet or not?

Re: I wear a helmet, about 2 months ago, I was at a stoplight and a lorry clipped a motorcycle and I saw the whole thing. It all happened at a low speed but the motorcyclist went flying though was likely not seriously injured, he was still taken away by ambulance as a precaution. The motorcycle...
