    replacing fork with shorter one

Not sure I completely understand rake/offset. I currently have a pace rc31 fork 42.5cm fork on the bike now and am looking to replace with a 39cm or 40cm fork both with 42mm rake. I don't know what the rake/offset is on the pace. Again this bike is for road so not sure how much twitchiness I...

    replacing fork with shorter one

by stretched I kinda mean "looks" larger than expected. not necessarily too long. sorry for the confusion or the wrong use of terminology. It may also be just an illusion on my part. I have a 100mm stem and thinking about going down to 70mm although when I sat on my bike with pumped tires the...

    replacing fork with shorter one

I have a frame and want to install a shorter A2C rigid fork. I think the "correct" fork length for the frame is about 425mm or 42.5cm. From the manufacturer, the BB should be about 12 inches or 30.5cm. When I installed my 425mm fork, the bike seemed a little "stretched" out. Realistically the...

Protecting the underside of the down tube?

Re: I use a blk pvc cut in half the long way and it clamps right on the bottom portion(underside) of the down tube. I may get ragged on but I don't give a rip as it gives me piece of mind as I hate small dents anywhere on the bike. I stuck some felt lining on the inside as to minimize...

1996 Specialized Stumpjumper Team Special Edition

Are the Spins coming from France? All kidding aside, will u be using this bike for off-road biking with those Spins? I know Spins, although cool, have some definite performance and maintenance issues. The only ones available nowadays are used ones so I hope the ones you get are not...

1996 Specialized Stumpjumper Team Special Edition

i say keep the paint. nothing like original paint with a little 90's rustic show. maybe just make sure it is cleaned up. although it would probably look nice with repro decals. i know someones makes these replicas. are you going to use your old spins? hope so

sorry mine is 16.5 but close enough. '94 Trek 8700. I kinda like the look of smaller bikes rather than stretched out larger sizes. just my preference and the one and only reason being short is good.[/URL]
