Very nice, looking forward to seeing it buffed up a bit.

    Bikes and Bridges

Sorry, I think I may be wrong with 'Mere Way' I think it might actually be 'Worsted St' More info here: https://frrfd.org.uk/archaeology-and-history/roman-road/ It's a great ride in either direction and you can get a full 14kms out of Cambridge off-road (it's ridable to Horseheath). It...

    Bikes and Bridges

Fantastic day out graveling yesterday, picked up at least 3 of my favourite types of bridges, the ones that are there as a planning necessity for a major rd, because it cuts through a more ancient route, for instance this is the Mere Way (AKA 'Roman Rd') being carried over the A11 at Worsted Lodge.

Good spot, it's a Tele on a Fender Champ, captured with a Sennheiser 541.

Wow, thanks Totoro, that means a lot. I really hope you enjoy the rest of the tracks too!

    Today's Ride

My mate and I were set to do our last RRTY 200 of the year today, we've decided to bail it (given the risks posed by the weather) and will be heading out later in the month for it. I've been writing them up as we've gone, so if you want to know how we've got on so far you can see it here...

    I made an album...

...with my mates. We've been doing this a while, this is actually our 4th. I see there's quite a few folk here who like their HiFi too. Although this record was entirely recorded and mixed in a suburban house in Cambridge I spent a lot of time getting it to sound good (collecting vintage mics...

Lol, no - I'd not noticed that oddness in the perspective before I posted it. I'm sure you've given a marketing department somewhere an idea now though!

I think all the rain we've had has diluted the gravel somewhat, it's gone all squishy!

    French thread pedal adaptor?

Oooh, very tempting, thank you! I suspect the risk is they'll at least double the value/price of the bike! (especially when I track down appropriate shoes to go with them and so forth)

Very happy with mine, takes a bunch of camping gear nicely (and still rides nice when weighted down) plus it sends hard on loose and crunchy surfaces, whilst remaining comfortable over longer distances. It has adjustable geometry, but I have to admit that the couple of times I've tried swapped...

Folders! Foldable bicycles, minivelos and demontables

Looks like it was German too, by 'Hermann Klaue', who got taken over by Hercules in 1956 https://onlinebicyclemuseum.co.uk/1954-hermann-klaue-crossframe/

Yup, it has a Sachs Torpedo (single speed, coaster brake) hub, which adds to the German flavour. I searched quite extensively for anything about it when I got it but largely drew a blank (the pressed from flat construction seemed pretty singular to me at the time, even the forks are just folded...

    French thread pedal adaptor?

I suppose if I cock up tapping them I can go a size up and then have the choice of a M14 or 9/16 helicoil? ;-)

    French thread pedal adaptor?

It's got Sugino Mighty's on it, with fabulous drillium rings, which was a big part of what turned me on to the bike in the first place. (but yes I could swap just the cranks I guess - thanks for the prod in to the lateral thinking domain!) And yes, I entirely see the point about not molesting...

Fab thread, love the imagination and flat-out bonkers engineering that goes in to some of these. I know very little about mine, it looks kinda like the Batavus bikes (with the pressed box section) but not quite. I call it 'Baguette Express' because I have it mainly to take on holiday to France...

I got a lot of use out of a Canondale CAADX for a couple of years (which seemed to sort of bridge the gap between cyclocross and gravel) and recently upgraded it to a Fiftyone Assassin, fantastic bike for ripping up local byways and bridleways as well as loading up with camping gear and taking...

    French thread pedal adaptor?

This is my main problem, I'd already decided to ditch the retro in this area and have a lovely pair of Look X Tracks to go on there (French pedal at least, if not French thread). I'm stalling for now (LondonClassic was exactly right that I don't really want to tap them out) but I think this...
