Hi sorry for the late reply. I've been away too. I've managed to get my old seat post out so no longer need this one.

So we are in Wiltshire for a few weeks and I wanted to take a bike. The Diablo is perfect for the trails around here although I do miss not having disc brakes.

Re: I'm pleased to say the Diablo is still going strong. We had our first lunchtime ride in the local woods today. I never did get the front brakes working properly & the other set I bought were the same. It must be a 'master' spring issue. Anyway a set of new Shimano canti are now doing the...

Show me your Chas Roberts / Dog Bolx / White Spider's etc

Re: I went to see Geoff Roberts a few weeks ago & he had a lovely yellow B.O.L.X. with (possibly) Mag 21 Rock Shox, XT groupset & Ringle finishing kit. Very, very nice. He still makes them if you fancy a new 'old' bike. Plus you can make one yourself if you go on the frame building course.

    ITM titanium barends

Re: Not wanting to get your hopes up but have you endlessly Googled ITM's back catalogue? I'm thinking of ITM Hooks or something similar, but I think they had a thread. Or have you tried emailing ITM. Manufacturers can be helpful. Apologies if this isn't any help.

Re: So it’s finished and I’ve been for a very quick ride through the woods. Wow took me back! There are a few bits to tweak but I can do them another time. I’m planning a proper ride nice & early tomorrow morning. Hope you all enjoyed the updates.

Re: I’m sure it doesn’t look any different to the last photo but the Diablo has been ridden for the first time in year - around the garden. The gears aren’t indexed and the brakes aren’t connected either so no going any further today. Almost there...

Re: OMG it’s starting to look like a bike! There’s something wrong with the headset - why did I touch it? - and there’s little tension in the front brakes. Any thoughts on the brakes would be welcome. The back brakes are on the SLR setting and I can’t see how to change the front ones from...

It’s too late now. Can’t be worse than scrapes and rust.

Ok, there has been some small progress. It turns out some wally bought a set of 135mm hubs rather than 130mm and then found out that the new back wheel didn’t fit. Hmm. Fortunately Geoff Roberts sorted me out. Geoff is well recommend and even showed me a couple of D.O.G.S.B.O.L.X. that he had...

Re: Looks like you are going through the same issues as me - you aren't the only Dave Yates Diablo on this forum currently undergoing a refurb. :-) Don't get any colour matches from the internet. They're rubbish. I'm taking a step back & looking exactly where my areas of rubbing / corrosion...

Re: Very nice! They were well known for the paint jobs so you can't change it. Mine has signs of wear in exactly the same places. What are your plans for it?

Re: So I now have a very nice set of new wheels for the Diablo and the old bottom bracket is out. As you can see I’d had my money’s worth. I’ve started cleaning the rust off of the Project 2 forks myself. It’s coming off quite nicely with tin foil and white vinegar. I’m going down this route...
