    Santa Cruz Blur suspension query

duh ... should have looked at the blowup picture. Is the end caps flush on the pivot axle on both side? If so that might imply the axle is too long. Other than that, the two other things that comes to mind is the bolt might be too long and is bottoming out too soon. Have you compared the...

    Santa Cruz Blur suspension query

Not sure how my reply got so screwed up. But I'll try again. f I am reading the response correctly, you are wondering if the bearing on the top have end caps. The answer is for a '05 Blur XC is no. And I suspect maybe for your Blur LT would be the same. In SC's archive it looks like the Blur...

    Santa Cruz Blur suspension query

I am currently building a Santa Cruz '05 Blur XC. And sent a picture to Santa Cruz and asked them if mine was a Ti link and was told it was. It looks to be the same as yours but I would verify with Santa Cruz. Upload a closeup of the link and they should be able to tell you. If not, you could...

2005 Santa Cruz Blur LT lockdown 2 build

I just recently picked 05 Blur XC frame. It is a large (19.5" ST) frame with bend in the top tube like my old large (19.5") Super Lite. I was going to buy an 05 medium (17" ST) Blur Classic frame which had a straight top tube from the same seller. I believe, but am not positive, large and XL...

    What year is my SID?

Re: I agree with the above post, it is probably a '99 or '00. Looks like a SID dual air SL model, but can't tell for sure without more pictures. In any event seal kits for these forks, i.e. 28mm sanctions, are getting hard to find at least in the US. I've seen them on eBay being shipped from...

    Santa Cruz Heckler -98

yeah a 98 Heckler. One of the very best bikes I've ever owned and I've owned a lot. Had mine for 12 years and then much to my dismay a crack developed along weld that held the shock bracket to the top tube. Had to put my trusty steed down. Broke my heart.

    Welded disc mount advice

Wow! Nice frame. But I'm a Litespeed fan so what do I know. :^) In any event when I got my OwlHollow frame a couple of months back I looked around to find someone reputable to weld disc tabs on my frame. The reason for wanting disc tabs was because the fork I planned on using was disc only...

I'll say it will do very well. They were made for each other. Can't wait to see more progress.

truly a great start on a not so common frame.

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

I didn't re-anodized the parts that were de-anodized. Probably should have, but just polished them up. I found in the past that this process hold up pretty well if you take normal care of the bike. With that said I did have a '98 Santa Cruz Heckler frame anodized at shop here in town and it...

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

Re: Re: Unfortunately the bike isn't too fast because the motor 's pretty shot. I looked at many different paints. And I received the CMKY color code from gil@retrodecal for the blue in the SID decals but couldn't match it exactly, close but and not exact. Someone suggested an...

    Santa Cruz Chameleon decals

Have you tried Santa Cruz? Many years when I redid my Heckler I was able to get replacement decals from them. Another source may be retrodecals? Gil@retrodecals does amazing stuff.

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

It rides better than I thought it would. The SID needless to say is very old technology but surprised me in how well it handled on the trails. It's an 80mm travel, but I've never had a bike with more than a 100mm travel, so I'm OK with 80. Being an old dog who started riding mtn bikes in the...

    1997 Litespeed Owl Hollow

Re: Some major progress made since I last posted. Parts were either hard to find or took a long time to arrive. I decided to go with a SID XC instead of the Manitou, mostly because I thought it looked better on the Owl. I got a good set of retro decals for the SID from no other that Gil at...
