    1997 GT Avalanche

Big thanks to Retrodecals too for the custom decals. Fantastic job. Putting them on was a bit tricky, I used a laser level to get them straight.

    1997 GT Avalanche

It would be nice to get a matching XT crankset, but with the prices of good ones it might have to be LX. It's an IG chain setup too so limited choices. For forks I was thinking a nice pair of SID's or perhaps Fox Floats. In black of course 😁

    1997 GT Avalanche

It's been a couple of years since I bought this frame. To swap out parts from my old 1997 GT Timberline and add new ones found online. Still an ongoing project, not sure about the RST's and still looking for a decent crankset.

What did I buy?? another GT frame id

Great news, thank you. Not so 'early' then! I found the '97 GT catalogue on here today and although my German isn't great it correctly lists this Avalanche frame, with '7000er doppelt konifiziertes' Alu, same colourway decals too. Clamp (easy) and headset cups (flathead+mallet+force) both off...

What did I buy?? another GT frame id

So I finally got around to buying a replacement frame for my rusty '95 Timberline. Got this off ebay for £42 + delivery. Early 90's GT Team Avalanche, 7005 polished AL. Some components included. Any GT experts out there care to tell me what year it is? Early 90's the description said, but I...

    GT 1998 Frame swap

Thanks for the reply, it was very helpful. Head tubes are about 10mm difference. BB appears smaller on the steel frame so new one required. As you also pointed out, the seatpost will need changing - I wanted a new one anyway :D

    GT 1998 Frame swap

This is my first post on the site - I'm looking for a bit of advice regarding a frame swap from any GT experts out there. One of my older bikes, a 1998 GT Timberline 18" with upgraded RST forks, is sadly showing signs of rust on the steel frame. I was thinking of getting a replacement frame of...
